Queers for Palestine and Brighton Ballroom Community present: Decolonise Pride, a day dedicated to Ballroom Culture and the end to imperialism. 

Ballroom Culture originated in Harlem, New York and has since spread across the globe. Pioneered by Crystal Labeija, the Ballroom Scene celebrates and prioritises LGBTQIA+ people of colour. Members of Ballroom Scene come together for competitions called ‘Balls’ whereby individuals and ‘Houses’ compete in fashion, beauty, realness and performance categories for prizes.

THEME: Revolutionary Love- come dressed in the colours of the Palestinian and Sudanese flag (red, green, black and white) 

The day will start with speeches and a bit of a talk why these spaces, activism, and events are so important particularly now with what is happening in Palestine, Congo, Sudan, Haiti, Yemen etc. Our calls for liberation is interconnected. None of us are free until all of us are free. 

CATEGORIES:

From 10 till 2am a selection of Queer POC DJ talent to finish off the night. From new talent to long standing legends we want to finish the function with a bang. 

Ballroom is an intentional space that prioritises QTIBIPOC (Queer, Trans, Intersex, Black, Indigenous, People of Colour). Please be mindful and respectful of who the space is for. Anyone being disrespectful of the space will be removed.
